After beginning his musical training in Madrid, Adrián Díaz Martínez began his international career at the age of 16, when he played in youth orchestras such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.
He studied in Berlin with Prof Marie-Luise Neunecker at the Hanns Eisler School of Music.
Adrian is currently studying for a doctorate in music at the University of Hamburg and the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg. His research topic is ‘The genesis and performance history of the second horn concerto by Richard Strauss’.
After playing in the orchestra of the Konzerthaus Berlin from 2010 to 2013, he was a member of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra from 2014 to 2023. Since 2019, he has also been a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and a regular guest in other orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
As one of the most distinguished horn players of his generation, the young Spaniard takes part in the most prestigious chamber music festivals and masterclasses in Europe and Asia. As a prizewinner of international competitions such as the ‘Citta de Porcia’ in Italy and the ‘International Mozart Competition’ in Salzburg, Adrian regularly performs as a soloist in Europe, Asia and America.
Adrián Díaz Martínez has been Professor of Horn at the Lübeck University of Music since 2021.
