Registration & Admission

Registration for a course is binding – regardless of whether payment has already been made. It takes place via our online booking system. Final admission is granted after receipt and evaluation of the registration by the respective course organiser. You will receive a written confirmation of enrolment by e-mail at least 4 weeks before the start of the course.

Application deadline

As a rule, the enrolment period ends four weeks before the start of the course. Later registrations are possible at any time after individual consultation, provided there are still places available.

Course repertoire

Unless otherwise stated, the repertoire is freely selectable. Please indicate the planned works in as much detail as possible when registering.

Course schedule

The specified course dates include arrival and departure days. As a rule, courses start and finish at 3 pm on the day of arrival and end after breakfast on the day of departure. You will receive detailed information about the programme, travel and the Forum Artium itself approximately three weeks before the start of the course.

Costs &
Services

Costs & services

The course fee and the costs for accommodation and catering (four meals a day) are shown separately.
The course fee includes accident insurance for the duration of the stay. Accommodation is provided in the Forum Artium or in the neighbouring building – usually in double rooms.
Single rooms can be booked on request and at an extra charge (€30/day), subject to availability.
A refund of unused services in the event of late arrival or early departure is not possible.
Participants who do not make use of accommodation or catering pay a surcharge of 25 % on the course fee to cover the use of the house.

Discounts

Pupils, students and members of the Forum Artium support association receive discounts. Proof of this must be presented upon registration or at the latest at the time of the final invoice.

Cancellation & cancellation fees

Cancellations must be notified in writing.
- Up to four weeks before the start of the course: registration fee forfeited, can be transferred to a later course in the same year if necessary.
- From four weeks before the start of the course: 50% of the total costs must be paid.
- From one week before the start of the course / without cancellation: 100 % of the total costs are due.
If a course is cancelled by Forum Artium (e.g. if there are too few registrations or the teacher is ill), any payments already made will be refunded. Further claims are excluded.

Photo & media use

By registering for a course, you agree that photos taken during courses and concerts may be published for documentation and advertising purposes. If you do not wish this, please let us know in writing.

Scholarships &
Grants

Scholarships

To a limited extent, the Forum Artium awards partial scholarships towards the course fee. Applications must be made informally, in writing and with reasons at least eight weeks before the start of the course. Further funding opportunities are available from music academies, friends’ organisations or the GVL.

GVL funding

It is possible to apply for funding from the Gesellschaft zur Verwertung von Leistungsschutzrechten mbH (GVL) for participation in a masterclass. This can then subsidise course fees.
The basic requirements for funding are
- that a rights administration agreement has been concluded with GVL (all performing artists can do this online free of charge) – that at least one concert has already been registered with GVL and the first distribution has already taken place – that the application for funding has been submitted before the start of the masterclass to be subsidised – additional applications for further courses can be submitted over a period of three years after the first claim has been made
If applicants have already played a concert but have not yet received a grant, it is still worth submitting an application – these are always assessed on an individual basis. As concerts by youth orchestras (e.g. the BJO) are often broadcast, it is also worth making an enquiry with GVL. In any case, certificates from the concert organisers must be obtained.
Parents who are artists themselves and fulfil the above-mentioned basic requirements (regardless of 4.) can also apply for funding for their children.

The application can be submitted informally by email to zuwendung@gvl.de. Further information is available here.

Seminar
Insurance

Seminar insurance

Something unforeseen can always happen which means that it is no longer possible to take part in a masterclass.
Our tip if something comes up!
To ensure that you are financially protected in the event of cancellation or interruption of your planned seminar or event, we recommend the reliable protection of travel insurance. The following link will take you to an offer from ERGO Reiseversicherung.
