Prof. Tabea Catharina Debus

Recorder player Tabea Debus devotes herself with equal enthusiasm to the performance of early and contemporary music. Her extensive concert activity takes her to venues such as Wigmore Hall, to international festivals in London and Edinburgh, summerwinds Münsterland, the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival, and as far as Asia, North America, and South America. As a soloist, she performs with renowned ensembles including La Serenissima, The English Concert, and the WDR Radio Choir. Since 2023, she has also been a member of the recorder quartet Palisander.

Through her work with composers such as Moritz Eggert, Frank Zabel, and Freya Waley Cohen, new works for recorder are regularly created, with premieres among others in the London concert series LSO Soundhub, Sound Unbound, and Listenpony. Her playing can be heard on seven critically acclaimed solo albums. Having received numerous national and international awards, she has been honored among others with the CAG Innovation Award, first prize at the SRP Moeck International Solo Recorder Competition in London, and the WEMAG Soloist Prize of the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival.

Tabea Debus is Professor of Recorder at the HMTM Hannover and gives masterclasses among others at the mdw Vienna, the Royal Academy, the Royal College of Music, and the Gstaad Baroque Academy. In her school workshops she enables children to have creative experiences with music and she also serves as a juror for Jugend musiziert.
