Prof. Philipp Zeller is a Principal Bassoonist of the Saxonian Staatskapelle Dresden and has been a Professor for Bassoon at the Dresden College of Music since 2019.
He began his musical career in 2003 as a Prize-winner of the German Music Competition.
He recorded a Solo-CD and since then has been a regular guest at chamber music festivals in Germany and abroad.
He has performed as a soloist with, amongst others, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Berlin Radio-Symphony Orchestra, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the Dresdner Kapellsolisten, and the Dresden Philharmonic.
In 2015 the composer Daniel Schnyder wrote a Bassoon concerto for Philipp Zeller, which he premiered with the Dresden Philarmonic.
Zeller studied under Prof. Albrecht Holder and Prof. Dag Jensen. While doing so he was engaged as solo bassoonist at the Jenaer Philharmonie and later with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra. Subsequently he was employed in the same
position by the Berlin Radio-Symphony Orchestra, the Gürzenich Orchestra Köln and the Dresden Philharmonic where he remained until his transition to the Staatskapelle Dresden in 2015.
From 2012 until 2018 Philipp Zeller teached very successful as a lecturer at the University of Music Würzburg whereupon he was appointed to be professor of bassoon at the Hochschule für Musik „Carl-Maria von Weber“ Dresden.
