Prof. Andre Schoch

André Schoch has been Professor of Trumpet at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim since 2024. From 2017 to 2024, he was a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and served as a faculty member at the Karajan Academy.

Prior to that, he was Principal Trumpet of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra and held principal trumpet positions with the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig.

As a soloist, André Schoch has performed with the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Berlin Baroque Soloists, and the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Chemnitz, among others.

He is also in high demand as a chamber musician. André Schoch is a founding member of The Philharmonic Brass, an ensemble comprising members of the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras, and has been a member of German Brass since 2025. In addition, he performs regularly with long standing duo partners including Friedrich Höricke (piano), Rudolf Meister (piano), and Arvid Gast (organ).

As a teacher, André Schoch has given masterclasses at numerous institutions in Germany and abroad, including the Brass Academy Alicante, Carnegie Hall, the Manhattan School of Music, the Shanghai Orchestra Academy, and the Universities of Music in Hanover, Weimar, Hamburg, and Detmold.

He studied with Professor Matthias Höfs, Professor Reinhold Friedrich, and Professor Klaus Bräker. As a scholarship holder at the Karajan Academy, he also received instruction from Gábor Tarkövi.
