At the age of 10, Martin Stimming played the violin, piano and drums, at the age of 16 he began producing electronic music and at the age of 19 he moved from Hessen to Hamburg to attend the SAE Institute (School of Audio Engineering), where he studied to become an electronic music producer.

Stimming had his breakthrough in 2008 with the single Una Pena, which featured the edited vocals of Chilean folk singer Violeta Parra. His debut album Reflections, released on the Hamburg label Diynamic, earned him an Ibiza DJ Award in the “Best Newcomer” category in 2010.

Over the years he has released six albums, as well as various remixes for artists such as Apparat, Claude VonStroke, Nina Kraviz, Stephan Bodzin and Kiasmos. Stimming has been playing in clubs in Ibiza, Berlin, London, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Cape Town, Mumbai, Sydney, Montreal, New York, São Paulo and many other metropoles worldwide for over 15 years. He also played at festivals such as Fusion and Melt! in Germany, Into The Woods in the Netherlands, Open Space in France, Babylon in Australia, The BPM in Mexico and Rage in South Africa.

In 2016, a musical turning point began for the producer, away from making dance music and towards a deeper and more mature sound world in which he freed the music from its functionality to find out what is behind it. In 2018, Stimming was awarded the German Music Authors Prize in the “Dance/Electro Composition” category.

Stimming uses handmade textures in his compositions, often field recordings of everyday objects such as a coffee machine, children’s toys or loose change. He is known for using the latest technology in his songs, working with a variety of equipment both in the studio and during live sets. He refuses to use a mouse or a keyboard and compares the muscular memory that is activated when pressing, turning and sliding buttons and controls as well as using touch displays to playing an instrument.

Stimming repeatedly combines his electronic music with analogue instruments. Many of the productions released on Diynamic already contained analog instrument samples. In 2012, Stimming and a friend reworked his track November Morning into a classic arrangement and had the new version performed and recorded by the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt/Oder. In 2018, Stimming released his album Exodus in collaboration with the German neoclassical pianist Lambert. In 2022 and 2023 he performed in live concerts with the NDR Vokalensemble and the conductor Klaas Stok.

Stimming has reviewed various electronic music devices in online videos for Electronic Beats TV and given masterclasses in Ibiza.
