Stephanie Winker received her first musical education in her hometown Tübingen and later with Gaby van Riet in Stuttgart.
After graduating from the local Steiner-School she went on a full grant to New York to study with Jeanne Baxtresser at Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard School.
Having received a Bachelor of Music in 2000, she moved to Berlin, enrolled at HfM Hanns Eisler and completed her studies with a Diploma and Konzertexamen with Jaques Zoon while simultanously starting her orchestral career as principal flutist with first Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, later Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Berliner Staatsoper and finally Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, where she stayed for ten years until 2014 and with whom she also frequently appeared as a soloist.
In 2004 her various and passionately persued chambermusic activities became enriched with a membership with the Ma‘alot quintet, leading to concerts all over the country, Europe, Asia and the Americas. The ensembles cooperation with the lable Dabringhaus & Grimm erned them two Echo Klassik awards and many beautiful recordings.
Since 2013 she is a faculty-member of the HfMDK Frankfurt, leading a successful flute studio and teaching masterclasses in Germany and abroad.
Stephanie Winker remains a sought after guest-principal with the finest orchestras and enjoys the possibilities of even more chambermusic, a large portion of it being connected to the „Sommerkonzerte Volkenroda“, a festival that she founded in 2012 and has been artistic director of since.
She lives with her husband and three children in Stuttgart.
